Pittsfield Rotary supports Access Food project.

Pittsfield Rotary Club recently gave a $500 donation to Access Illinois Outdoors for their Access Food Project. Local Rotary Club President, Jan Bleich, presented the check to Brenda Middendorf, Coordinator of Access Illinois Outdoors.

Access Food is a project of Access Illinois Outdoors to encourage hunters to donate their deer to be processed for distribution to needy families through our local food pantries.  All processing costs are covered by the program through donations such as the one from the Pittsfield Rotary Club.  Anyone wishing to donate a deer may contact the Access Illinois Outdoors office for more information at 217-285-2464.

Rotary donates to Christmas Basket program and hears from LFL director.

Left: The Pittsfield Rotary Club recently donated $250 to the Pike County Christmas Basket Program. Club President, Jan Bleich, is pictured presenting the donation to Carla Allen and Lynn Ottwell of the Pike County Christmas Basket Program.

 

  Right: Hal Smith, Director of the Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition, presented a program on current projects at a recent Pittsfield Rotary Club meeting at the invitation of program chair, Dawson Dean. Club members enjoyed the presentation on Looking for Lincoln activities across central Illinois. Hal also told great stories of his trip, 35 years ago, with Dawson Dean, as part of a Rotary Group Study Exchange to England. Not only does Rotary promote community service and leadership locally, but Rotary promotes international peace, goodwill and friendship through the many projects of Rotary International.

The program for the October 21st meeting of the Pittsfield Rotary club was Kathy Zimmerman.  Kathy, a well known local historian regarding Lincoln, gave a presentation on Pittsfield's Looking for Lincoln Project.  Kathy (right) is pictured here with program chairman Randy Hires (left).

Pittsfield Rotarians contribute to the Habitat for Humanity cause by helping to build Pike County's first Habit house.

Members from the Pittsfield Rotary Club spent Saturday October 10, 2009 helping to build the first Habitat for Humanity house in Pike County.  The house is located near Federal and Clinton Streets in Griggsville, IL.  Along with Pittsfield Rotarians President Jan Bleich, Gary Woods, Gina Edwards, Bill Durall, Roberta Dolbeare, the Pittsfield Rotary Interact Club students also helped with the building.

District Governor Larry Thompson visits Pittsfield Club and helps welcome our newest member, Bill Durall.

The Pittsfield Rotary Club inducted its newest member, Bill Durall at its regular weekly meeting on September 17, 2009.  Officiating the induction was District Governor Larry Thompson from the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club.

Bill is the son-in-law of long time Pittsfield Rotarian Johnson Stillwell.  Joining us in making Bill feel welcome to Pittsfield!

Pittsfield Club welcomes enters its new year welcoming in new Club President Jan Bleich!

The Pittsfield Rotary Club conducted its annual meeting for 2009 at the Pike County Farm Bureau auditorium on June 30th.  Introduced as the new Pittsfield Rotary Club President for the 2009-2010 year was Jan Bleich, RN BSN.  Jan works as the Assistant Director of Nursing and Community Health Promotion Coordinator for the Pike County Health Department.  An active member of the Pittsfield Rotary Club for the last several years, Jan brings with her a wealth of leadership and Board participation skills.  Jan is also a member of the Pike County Community Health Partnership.

Please join us in wishing Jan a successful and exciting tenure as Pittsfield Rotary Club's newest president!

Long time Rotarian Eldon Attwood passes away.

One of Pittsfield Rotary Club's longest standing members, Eldon Attwood passed away on July 14, 2009.  Eldon had completed nearly 48 years of perfect attendance to our Club meetings.  Eldon will definitely be missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Eldon's family.

Pittsfield Rotary Club Donates!

 The Pittsfield Rotary Club recently made substantial donations to two local causes. One thousand dollars was given to both Pike County Habitat for Humanity and to the Pittsfield Community Center.

 Habitat for Humanity will use the funds towards construction costs of a single family dwelling at the corner of Federal and Clinton Streets in Griggsville. In addition to financial support, the local Habitat Affiliate needs volunteer workers every Saturday morning beginning at 8 AM at the building site in Griggsville. All skill levels are welcome.  Contact Kathy Hull, Habitat Chairperson for more information.

 The Pittsfield Community Center will use the funds towards the cost of resurfacing the   parking lot. Contact Shirley Johnston for more information about how to rent the Community Center for your special event.

Pittsfield Club welcomes new Rotarians

The Pittsfield Rotary Club inducted two new members at it's weekly meeting held February 11, 2009.  Pictured left is Rotarian/Sponsor Mark Meleski with inductee Jason Bollenbaugh and right Inductee Gina Edwards and her Rotarian/Sponsor Brin Fine.  Gina is the Director of Marketing and Sales at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, Il. and Jason is a chiropractor with Midwest Chiropractic also in Pittsfield, Il.
