Since no one signed up for November 1, Harry did…..and you’ll have to put up with whatever he comes up with…..no fair running out….no matter how bad…..remember, the day before our meeting is Halloween……..

A large ‘ATTRABOY’ was given to David Fuhler, Radio entrepreneur, for his excellent work, and professional help for our Rotary Radio (‘Rodeo’, according to Gaylord ) Days, which were very successful.

Program:   Darius BRYJKA, Main Street designer, with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.

Darius works as a Main Street Designer for the Preservation Services Division.

He is currently looking for old, ornate buildings, and seeking public help in finding all the old, metal covered buildings in the state.

This form of architecture was developed after the Civil War by companies that had been producing cannon and other war supplies, in order to remain in business.  Two of the main companies were in the central states. They produced very ornate iron and tin work facades

So far, over 400 remain of the many thousands that were produced.  Several are here in Pittsfield.  (Some possibly in Barry).

Two of the included sites here are Ideal Hardware and the building where our club secretary has an office.

DON’T FORGET:  Community Center Turkey Dinner….11;00 A.M. TO 2:00 p.m.  Sunday, October….29……Eat out…help the Community Center….
