Next week: District Governor’s visit…..let’s have a crowd!

 

Visitor:  Gregory Lesn, West Pike Principle, with our student guests:

 

Student Guests: April Smith, plays volleyball, is quite active in church activities, plans on attending cosmetology school.

 

Sara Dolbeare, daughter of Carolyn and David.  Active in FFA, softball and basketball, on student council.  Plans on attending John Wood and later nursing school at Blessing.

 

Murray Martin reported that we have received a FULL FUNDING GRANT from the Illini Foundation for our Rotary Drug and Alcohol program at the school……..

THAT”S GREAT!!!.....Now, we’ll need some Rotarians to sign-up later on to assist with carrying out the project…….

(He reported the committee had one major problem in functioning properly….it was our President…since this is her ’pet project’,  just having her around while they were functioning…)

 

Eric Dolbeare told about Pleasant Hill’s ‘Showcase’

Spring Radio Day will be subject of a report soon……..according to the committee members.

 

WE NEED MORE MEMBERS TO SIGN UP FOR PROGRAMS……See MAX…..

 

Program:  Connie Schroeder introduced Patty McIntosh and together they spoke on the newly formed Pike County Community Health Partnership.

Pike County has numerous health problems…..Adolescent Health, Poverty, access to health care, transportation, aging population…..18.8 percent of the kids are below poverty level…. $15,946.00 is the average per capita income….

Major causes of death are cardio-vascular, cancer and respiratory.

Residents have problems because they are under-funded, or unfunded for health insurance.

Economics:  Pike County is on the Poverty Watch List….

Demographics:  Pike has a large aging population

Access:  There is a lack of knowledge for financial assistance, care and for services.

Availability:  The people in the county have limited resources…

 

Mission:  To collaboratively strengthen the health and wellness of those served in Pike County.

Vision:  All to enjoy the highest degree of health, wellness and quality of life possible.

 

A coordinator will be hired through the University of Illinois Extension, will be housed on the second floor of the Mental He3alth Center of Western Illinois, Pike County.
