PITTSFIELD ROTARY CLUB   District 6460   5 May 07

KEITH AND Jeff had birthdays in May, but didn’t show up to eat the Peach Pie….

Make-ups:  Linda at ‘e-club’; Eldon, several from California…(he should be back soon)..

Last Sunday’s called off game will be played onSept14 or 16…must have your ticket, but it will be honored….more later on that….

The T-shirts from the Dr/Alcohol/tobacco program were quite popular with the students…they wore them to the college night…etc.    We’ve several ‘smalls’ that are still available…see our President Ann.

Murray MARTIN:  “THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED WITH THE Drug/Alcohol/tobacco Program…..Everybody did GREAT”!!!!!!

Program:  Dawson Dean, substituting for Walker Filbert, (who was off finishing up details for the Ethanol Plant), introduced the new Senior Engineer for the plant at Griggsville:  Derek Piney.

Derek said ‘It’s been a long road getting here, but the plant will start soon’.

It took a bank to lend the money, a  designer to design, a builder that could build, and work out with the bank and the equity holders.

Drawings of the proposed plant were passed out.  Rotary was the first to see them other than the ethanol group.

Everything for the process was on the drawings.  They will do more detailed engineering  for how all pipes will fit into the process and the building.

This will be a 100 Million gallon per year  plant, using 40 million bushels of corn…that’s 45,000 semi-truck loads …..or 15% of the corn grown in a 50 mile radius of Griggsville.

350 to 400,000 tons of dried distillers grain will be produced for livestock feed.

Approximately 40 people will work, the plant will operate 24/7, 365 days of the year …

Payroll will be between 1.5  to 2.0 million $.......

Gas and electric are lined up…Water line is started toward plant…in 30 days, people will be on site actually building….(probably 300 folks on site at any one time, most are union jobs….   An 18 to 20 month construction cycle is estimated.

½  M. bushels storage is on site…the rest will use JBS storage….

They will hire the permanent help about 2 months before actual operation begins….

The process will take about 60 hours from start to finish. Grind corn into a powder..   Mix with enzymes to produce sugar.  Add hot water… 50 hours later, refine off the ethanol…..

Excellent details on how the plant and process will work, from  the man that will make it happen…..Thanks….Derek…….

Johnson is doing better and is home…..taking therapy.
