What an Annual Meeting!!!  With wonderful awards, to Rotarians and Rotary Scholarship Winners….PLUS, District Governor Dick Robinson, and an excellent meal!!

Scholarship recipients: 

 Megan Guthrie, daughter of Richard and Jane, from West Pike, plans on continuing education at Univ. of Illinois at Champaign.

Ray Syrcle, son of Ronda and Rex, (and Grandma Eileen also came to our meeting),  Pike County, Unit 10.   Plans on attending University of Illinois and major in Political Science.

Brandon Scranton, Son of Todd and Becky, from Pleasant Hill, plans on attending SIU at Edwardsville, majoring in Engineering.

Three of our Rotarians received Paul Harris Awards…..:

Max Middendorf, for setting up, designing and maintaining our Pittsfield Rotary Club Web Site……and he’s done a Yeomen’s job of it…it is complete, up to date, and excellent!!!

Carole Bradshaw and David Fuhler receive their 2^nd Paul Harris Awards for the great amount of work they have done on Rotary Radio Days….

15 years ago,  Eric Dolbeare spent some time at a small orphanage in Mexico.  He has be3en back many times, helping improve the living conditions for these children who reside there.  He has taken several groups sponsored by, and with, our local Rotary Club.

His efforts have succeeded in obtaining a Rotary grant, along with the sponsoring Rotary Club of Chihuahua, Mexico,  that has brought the facility up to reasonable conditions. .

The Chihuahua Amigo Rotary Club has presented Eric a Paul Harris Award, for his efforts in their jurisdiction.. This makes Eric’s 3^rd Paul Harris Award.  Congratulation, Eric!!!!

We had singing led by the 3 attending members of the Rotary Quartet…..

Visiting Rotarians:  Betty and Ray Dolbeare, Louisiana, MO and District Governor Richard ‘Dick’ Robinson.

President Ann Revis said in her year’s concluding remarks that this has been a very fast year.  Everything went very well, finishing the Hospital Contemplation Area, the setting up of the club’s web sit, (Thanks to Max Middendorf), the  evening chat with new members revised; obtaining a Rotary matching grant for John Wood Pittsfield Facility…, the Reality Store and the tremendous Anti-drinking and Drug program, which Judge Drummond has declared the very best in Illinois, and plans on distributing the process to all the Rotary Clubs in the state…

At this point, she turned the gavel over to incoming President Randy Hires, who gave the Past President’s plaque and pin to Ann, who has done a magnificent job for her
Rotary year.

Randy then made a brief speech in which he established that we should now address him as El Presidente”, or “Your Eminence”….and kiss his ring…….!!

He also said, ‘People have said in no way can I possibly ruin Pittsfield Rotary, but, I’ll give it a try!!’

Well, you all know Randy…’el Blow-off’, who has the real distinction of being the lst Pittsfield Rotary President with a ‘goatee’……

District Governor Dick Robinson then spoke on how effective the Rotary organization has been in getting an ambulance to a small town in Argentina…..and many other projects….Challenging us to grow in Rotary, and get more information by going to Rotary.org……..

Ann closed the meeting with her final remarks….’Hope, Feel….Achieve’…….

A parting thought…;

Queen Ann is gone, Her reign is ended…

 Her Rotary Year was rather splendid…!!

With all the awards that kept coming through….

What’s that leave for Randy to do????

His Rotary Year may  be something to be feared…

(He’s the lst Rotary President here, to sport a beard)….

---Or is it really, just a goatee……

Well, it looks a lot like one to me…..

However, we’re going to learn what Randy’s really got…..

At least he’s promised to ‘give it a shot’……..
