Randy again thanked
all who contributed to the
Editor’s note: THANK YOU ALL for a wonderful
turnout last weekend for Radio Days and for the very successful ad sales.
Everyone did a tremendous job on the Radio – I heard so many positive comments –
and of course, there seems to be a clown in every bunch!! (But that is what
MAKES the day!) Rotarians from our
club working together helped to make this fund raiser one of our best. Of course, we couldn’t have done this
without David Fuhler and his staff at WBBA. Thanks especially to all of
them!!!
PROGRAM:
Julie Boren, Program
Chair introduced Ruth Bennett.
Ruth is chairman of
the First Christian Church Congregational Park Committee. Other members are Mary Gates and Carolyn
Casteel.
The Park is located at
the site of the former Congregational Church. It is owned by the First Christian Church
who bought the land in 2003, demolished the old church and is now developing it
into a lovely park. With the help
of David and Marie Awbrey and former Congregational Church members and their
families, they have raised money for the current gazebo and for future
landscaping, sidewalks, etc. Future
plans include sidewalks, trees and shrubs, benches, flower beds and a memorial
plaque. Projected completion of
this project is Memorial Day, 2008.
FINAL
THOUGHTS:
Harry Wright sent this
poem on Randy’s Radio Day Antics:
Saturday at
“Our
I challenge the guy in
the orange shirt
And the one with the
up-pointed hair.
El Presidente can beat
them in mule milking, I swear.”
But Chris rounded up
all the free-ranging mules, blocking Interstate 72.
Blocking Rte. 96 for
an hour, like Chris told him to.
Being loyal to El
Presidente, I called WBBA
Talked to one of our
Rotarians, and told him what to say:
“Make sure, when you
milk that mule
Only do it from the
right side, or you
Will find out what an
upset mule can do.”
El Presidente finally
found a mule to milk,
Tied it up to a
convenient post
Started in to try to
milk it, so he would have the most
Milk to weigh in the
contest, to defeat Chris and Kent.
But a slight problem
developed – and this is how it went:
My message didn’t get
forwarded
And the mule rang El
Presidente’s gong.
Sent him to the
emergency room, although not for long.
The side he picked to
milk from wasn’t the right side after all.
El Presidente picked
the wrong side which proved to be his downfall.
It was a successful
Radio Day and El Presidente survives contests once
more.
Pay attention to
2008’s Radio Day and see what is in store!!!
