Program: El Presidente introduced Phil Bradshaw who spoke on ‘SOY’
800 million people on this planet are malnourished….1/3 of the people are protein deficient….1800 children die each day from lack of protein…..and those who live are usually stunted mentally.
These statistics can be changed by the addition of ‘SOY’ in a variety of forms….milk, powder, tofu, etc.
In this country, we eat meat, and therefore are not protein deficient…..
It is estimated that people Aids infected need 50 to 100 percent more protein to reduce their infection problem, and many of the world’s protein deficient people have Aids.
The Soybean industry here has developed a 50% soy protein powder that can be easily added to the distressed countries normally eaten diet. A few tablespoonfuls added daily will be sufficient to correct the dietary deficiency.
The Soybean association only provides the education. Other groups furnish the food materials.
Some Rotary clubs are providing Soy products, and even ‘Soy Cows’…which can make soy milk….where electricity is available. A ’Soy Goat’ is available in other areas, which is bicycle powered….both produce ‘milk, using soybeans and unsafe local water, which is heated to a high enough temperature to make it safe to drink in the processing.
