April 23…is the date picked for Rotary GSE Potluck….(Helen didn’t write down where…)  but, hold the date and plan on attending.

Praise for  the Drug Program at the schools, with Judge Drummond doing an excellent job, along with our Rotary Committee and all who helped….See the local newspapers!!!!

Paige Brokaw was announced as the winner of the contest held at the Drug Program…

Program:  Max Middendorf introduced Alan Fore, who talked on the ‘Rockies Express Pipeline’.

The ‘Rockies Express Pipeline’ has two parts done already.  They are from Colorado to Monroe Co. Missouri.  It will eventually encompass 1700 miles of pipeline, and about 4 or 5 thousand people will work on it.  It stretches from Colorado to Ohio, and is one of the most major pipelines constructed in the last 27 years. Actually, it is the largest single  pipeline project in the U.S. today.

The pipeline is federally supervised through the FERC, and the gas going through it will be ‘market driven’

as to where it ends up being used.  3 companies are funding it .

It will enter Pike County by going 80 feet under the bottom of the Mississippi River.  The pipeline should see little impact on the ground it crosses, and will be at a depth of a minimum of 5 feet…. That should  not bother crops planted over it.. (no trees though). We can expect to see  a lot of construction soon….starting about June 1.  The area crossed should be quickly restored.
