President Debbie reported that she, Bobette and Shirley  wrote a grant for the Christmas Basket Program.  Hope it goes through.

Our club has been turned down for a ‘Simplified Grant’ for the Drug,- Tobacco- Alcohol Program since it is an ‘on-going program. Our Club has done  such a great job over the years on this program, she feels we can help out with putting it together, even if we do not get a grant.

Carole Bradshaw reported that an out of state visitor to the

Fall Color Drive had told people that he thought the Rotary Radio Day as the ‘best part’…..

Plan to attend the Joint Rotary Meeting November 18 at the Light House with the Louisiana Rotary Club.  Sign up at the next meeting  (the 5^th)….)  We need to know how many are coming.

Program: Walker Filbert came through with a very interesting program on DVD…. Politicians running for President of the United States……100  years ago,  had recorded on wax cylinders a series of 2 minute speeches,  these have been ‘cleaned up…and were between the ‘greatest orator’ of that age: William Jennings Bryant and William Howard Taft  (who won the election…) We got to hear several.

Their subjects were very much like the material we have been hearing about today

Thanks to historian Michael Boren, we learned that only William Jennings Bryant,  Nixon and Clay were the only men nominated for 3 times for the Presidency.

The Tafts were the only Father/Son combination to become Secretary of War for the U.S
