Patty McIntosh reported the ‘Schwan’s Truck will be having a truckload sale across from Hardees on May 9… will donate 10/20 percent of total sales toward the Skate Park…

See a skater with your order by May 6, or call Michele, 217-473-6450, and your order will be bagged up and ready for pick-up…Or stop by the truck….’Ya gotta eat, so, this a no-brainer fundraiser…’    And the kids need a skate park for safety….

Carole Bradshaw distributed Radio Day Packets to the team captains….and the captains are to distribute the ads to the rest of the Rotarians.  NOTE:  Due to computer problems (what else is new) there may be some old businesses  that asked to be taken off, or are out of business. PLEASE:  Return ALL ads, either with check, etc, or marked delete.. so the computer errors can be corrected.)

 PROGRAM:  Johnson Stilwell introduced his son-in-law, Colonel Bill Durall, USAF.

Bill said he remembered his first speaking engagement at our Rotary Club, back when we

had travelogues and were an all male organization.

Bill then told us a dramatic story of a soldier who had been stabbed in the brain in Iraq and how the TRANSCOM unit got him to the US in Washington, DC in just 13 hours.  This exemplifies the coordination that takes place at the Scott Field AF Base, when transportation, clearance for flying over all the different countries and arrangements made to refuel over the Atlantic.

Two-thirds of the TRANSCOM components are located at Scott Field.  Also, the Army materials center is in the process of moving there.  TRANSCOM’s work consist of the 4 “P’s”….People, Pallets, Patients, and Petro….The Team Spirit keeps all operators on their toes. They have control of all the aircraft aloft around the world.  There are over 900 take-offs around the world every minute….

Bill said he is an Air Force Dinosaur…having spent 37 years in the service,
