Mel Martin led singing for his last meeting here… He leaves on Thursday for preparation to his new assignment by the Church of the Latter Day Saints to Germany.  We wish him and Jeanne well.  (Hey, Mel…..send us your new address, also new email when you get there)…

Two big events Sunday…July 20^th: for you all to attend:

McDonald’s….20 % of all proceeds to go to the American Red Cross from 8 a.m. to 10:00 p.m..  The recent floods, and protection efforts has drained resources greatly.  You can also make donations!!! 

Hamer and Ginny Tate have invited everyone  (that’s all of you) to help them celebrate their 25^th Wedding Anniversary at the Crossroads….from 4:30 p.m.  to ?????

They will have a ‘picnic supper’ and at 6:30 P.M., renew their vows. 

Afterwards, there will be a ‘Sock Hop’, with that distinguished DJ,

 David Fuhler….’WBBA Radio Great’… presiding.

So, y’all come…bring your spouses, and help Hamer and Ginny celebrate this great occasion.

Jan Bleich announced that if anyone has a problem getting a program together for Rotary, John Wood has a Speakers Bureau that you can take advantage of.

Program:  Chuck Barber introduced Elizabeth Anton, (backdoor neighbor of Carolyn…and lives in Al Seiler’s former home)…

Elizabeth has worked in emergency planning in St. Louis, and still does consulting work.

Her message:  No One is Safe!!  Terrorists put a lot of emphasis on dates such as April 19  and Sept. 11.  They can  use chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive weapons to intimidate, coerce3 a government or civilian population in their furtherance of political or social objectives.

We need to be constantly aware of the problem and alert to any unusual activity.

Harry apologizes for not doing better for Rotary in the Pig Day Barbeque Cook off.  With 12  competitors….9 of which were ‘professionals in the 'Q' circuit’.  Rotary received only 2^nd in Ribs, 3rd in Brisket and 4^th on the ‘Mystery Meat’  (which was Spam’).

Excellent help from Debbie and Violet in passing our over 350 samples at our table….
