                                    PITTSFIELD ROTARY CLUB   4-22-09

 

Dan Brue, Principal of Pikeland Community School, thanked Rotary for providing the Drug/Alcohol Program for the schools in Pike County.  He said that there is a great tendency for children to try ‘new’ things at the Jr. High age, and this type of prevention really helps them make better choices.

Mitchell Barton won the Art Contest in the event and won a DVD player.

Cathy Miller, was very observant, and listened to the instructions and then won the draw of those who returned with their bags the next day.  She won a camera.

Student Guests from Pleasant Hill:  Jessie Johnson, daughter of Ben and Brooke, is in softball, Snowball, FHS, Blue Crew, Quiz Bowl, FFA, NHS, Chorus, Band, Showcase, Honor Roll, and plans to attend Blackburn College in Psychology.

Stephaney Loesch, daughter of Kelli Kendall and Steven , is in Math Club, softball, Blue Crew, FACS, SADD, plans to attend JWCC and become an X-ray Tech… She also works at County Market.

 

Carole Bradshaw announced that Rotary Radio Day will be the weekend AFTER Mother’s Day, May 16th…..Kick-off will be the next meeting.   She asked for people to volunteer to be team captains and Randy, Roberta, Greg, Walker, Violet and Linda volunteered to do that for our club…THANKS FOLKS!!!!!

 

Need Rotarians to volunteer to read to children in the county as a part of our ‘Reading ‘ program.. So far, Chris and Roberta have come forward….surely more of you know how to read…

Want to go to the District meeting in Macomb the end of the month?  Get registration forms from Debbie, or go to District 6460 web site.

 

Chris Little, Fire Chief of Barry Fire Department, again told of the very excellent Fire Department Extravaganza,  June 6….Get your tickets from your LOCAL Fire Department, since money raised by the Department Stays there…..also, Barry golf outing will be  June 13……get a team together to help them with local expenses there…

 

Suzanne Ellerbrock, Assistant District Governor, was also present and reminded us of the District Conference.  The Theme is ‘How Work, Family, and Life is an important part of Rotary.  

The Rotary International President will be there to speak at the conference, and you will also have the opportunity to meet Rotary Exchange Students studying at schools in this area..

Sol Pollice has been proposed a member for our club and passed by the board

 

Those who went to St Louis to see the Cardinals WIN were rewarded on Saturday…..

There is no joy in the South end of town…….

The Cardinals won so handily, you wondered if the Cubs were even around…….. .
