PITTSFIELD ROTARY CLUB 12=8=2010

Election of officers for 2011-2012 for our Rotary Club is December 15.Come aned help elect you leadership.

Roberta Dolbeare reported that there is a problem in Mexico with the orphanage our Rotary Club has assisted. The drug problem has increased, since they are so near the border. Business's have been pulling out of the town and they had been supporters of the orphanage...28 youngsters are currently in the orphanage.

President Dan has a special short meeting for Rotary Board, and any others who wish to attend, on the 16th at the Red Dome..time: 5:00 pm. Will seek ideas for future projects and other things. Please try to be there, if possible.

Program: Dan introduced Karen Fesler, Coordinator of "Main Street "for Pittsfield.

Karen reported Mainstreet is a program to try to bring more businesses to the Square, as well as the town.

A lot of new things have happened since the trogram was introduced.

Some include the new lighting around the swuare, Summer Concerts, LampPost decorations, several new businesses, Girls Nite out....with 80 participating this year so far and another nite planned, a boy's nite out....so men have a chance to find out what their significant other like on the girl's nite out...(makes for easy shopping for Christmas, Birthdays, anniversary for the men, and their partners have a better opportunity to get something truly wanted).

The sponsored Wreaths Decoration Contest had more entered than expected, and waspart of raising more funds for the Mainstreet program.

A special 'Diamond Night' isbeing planned, to help establish a fund of $10,000.00 to help open new busineses on the Square. More on that later.

90 percent of funding for the office is from the City of Pittsfield.

Now you now a little more about MainStreet...and Karen did a good job of explaing it's mission. Stop in the office and learn more from her, and how you can help make it even more effective in it's mission.
