Program: Carolyn Casteel introduced Carlos Fernandez, General Manager of WGEM.

Carlos reported that a year ago he heard about the 'Honor Flights' for Veterans of WWII, at a Rotary meeting in Hannibal. He checked with seveal people, and todate, 3 'Honor Flights have been had. , with another scheduled in October, They bring men and women to their WWII Memorial, and other Memorials in Washington D.C. , and so far, people from Pike County have been on every flight. The flights work because people want to honor these Veterans before they are no longer here, and flights cost over $300.00 per veteran, Pittsfield's FFA Chapter, Jody Heavner Adviser, has raised enough money through theiractivities to send 1 Veteran so far.

Flights are free of charge to Veterans. Guardians go along to make sure every Veteran is accomodated, and they so far have all paid their own way.

Randy Hires reported his father had gone on one with the Springfield group. Said it was a wonderful experience.

The Escort and people welcoming them back after the flight was over a mile long...with a huge escort of motorcycles as well.

55 go on each flight, because that's what the bus holds. Veterans can apply to WGEM.com/honorflight.

Thanks for a very informative program, Carlos Fernandez.
