OH.......He flew through the air with the greatest of ease....got 2 cracked ribs and a bruise near the knees....

Eleven stitches on his face, most up above his left eye....he's really sore now, and the deer, it did die.....

T'would probably been best, at least for a while...since it may be some time until 'El Presidente' can smile.....

For everywhere else, poor Randy is sore....and while his message is short, I'm sure we'll hear more...

Of his trying to fly in the air on the night, that he hit the deer, and then tried a flight His rescue by Barry's finest... Fire and Rescue, plus Rotarian Chris Little....we're sure he'll tell you Was really superb, as was his Emergency Care....and Illini Hospital's finest were wonderful there....

Yes, he wore his helmet....or wouldn't be here.....after he had AN ALTERCATION with a Pike County Deer....

The story I've sent, is really quite true.....about what our 'El Presidente' did do....

As you may not believe me, his report is below....where he describes the experience, almost blow by blow.......

Subject: I'm back....well sort of

Harry...please pass along to all...

Hola gang,

Well El Presidente is back from vacation.......well sort of......it seems that a deer and I had a argument about who should be ON the road and who should not. Guess who one that argument.......ME...well sort of.

On the way back from South Dakota bike trip I hit a deer at 9 p.m. Friday evening on I72 near mile marker 24. I am ok but Bambi bit the big one.

I have 11 stitches above my left eye..a couple cracked ribs a stitch or two on my left elbow and a deep thigh bruise above my left knee. And real sore everywhere else.

I am a lucky boy. And yes Wally...I had a helmet on which saved my life.

That and the ability to fly...which I did for a short time til gravity took over.

A fellow Rotarian helped me at the scene via the Barry Fire Department, Chris Little. Chris will tell you I'm lucky also. And I want Chris to know I appreciate everything the Barry Fire & Rescue and YOU did for me at the scene. It was good to see your face though you can't say the same about my face at the time can ya.

Just wanted you all to know the truth...NO I did'nt have 50 plus stitches......NO I was not admitted to Illini (but received the very best care in ER by everyone there then went home) YES I had a helmet on......and NO...they didn't have to stitch my mouth shut as some folks had hoped.....

I am back working VERY short days but will be unable to attend Rotary THIS week as I do look a bit like a very sore Frankenstein I've gotten a hold of Debbie and she will fill this week. But I WILL be back week after next. And for that..I thank God...and my wolf spirit (will explain sometime if you ask me on that one).

Until then....keep your tires on the road and a helmet ON YOUR HEAD.

Love you all

El Presidente

By the way.......South Dakota was BEAUTIFUL and I will go back....ON A BIKE....just the last few miles of the trip sucked.

Take care all
